Danish Bass-Baritone, Johan Reuter recently made
his Met Debut as Jaroslav Prus in the Makropulos
Case. I first noticed him in the same role on DVD
from the 2011 Salzburg Festival. Reuter trained in
Copenhagen at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Opera Academy.
Reuter has
been a member of the Royal Danish Opera since 1996, singing a wide repertoire
from Mozart to Verdi to contemporary operas. He regularly sings on
international stages , including Covent Garden, the Bastille Opera in Paris and
Deutsche Oper in Berlin the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth, and the Salzburg
Festival to name a few.
He can be seen on DVD in several roles, including
Henrik in Nielsen’s opera Maskarade,
and he is Wotan in the Copenhagen
